Key Responsibilities:
1. Laboratory & Environmental Monitoring
- Assist with the preparation, execution, and documentation of environmental lab experiments (e.g., water/soil/air testing).
- Collect, label, and store environmental samples in accordance with safety and regulatory protocols.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment and environmental monitoring instruments (e.g., spectrometers, gas analyzers, IoT sensors).
2. Data Science & AI Integration
- Preprocess and analyze lab-generated data using Python, R, or relevant data tools.
- Collaborate with data scientists to implement AI/ML models that forecast environmental patterns or detect anomalies.
- Manage environmental data pipelines and assist in building dashboards for real-time monitoring and reporting.
3. Cybersecurity & Data Integrity
- Monitor and secure lab devices and data systems, particularly those connected to external networks or cloud environments.
- Implement cybersecurity practices such as data encryption, user access control, and incident response protocols.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, EPA data regulations).
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Experience in a lab setting with a basic understanding of environmental testing protocols.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or R for data processing and analysis.
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and experience using AI tools or platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including data protection, network security, and risk assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC, or Certified Lab Technician.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) used for environmental data storage.
- Experience working with IoT or smart sensor technology for environmental monitoring.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Ability to communicate technical findings to interdisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies in environmental science and cybersecurity.
