Job Description
This position within the Division of Marketing’s Digital Team joins a team of front-end and back-end web developers and platforms team to help host, secure, and maintain the central web presence of Syracuse University. The DevOps Specialist will work in collaboration w/Marketing Technology & Web Development Teams to assist with on-premise and cloud containerized deployments. This position is responsible for assisting the development team to automate the implementation, testing, and deployment of products into a runtime environment in a reliable and efficient manner. This position is part of a high performing team providing a stable and reliable web hosting environment for various websites for Syracuse University, including flagship channels (www.syracuse.edu), schools and colleges, and business units. The DevOps Specialist works with central IT to ensure proper security, code review and University development best practice is followed. The DevOps Specialist will have trusted access to production, development and testing environments. This includes high-visibility properties in the central marketing portfolio in addition to hundreds of other websites that are hosted using the university’s web hosting platform. The scope of services in these responsibilities includes web, application, database and legacy systems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent amount of education and work experience.
- One (1) plus years of work experience related to software development and containerized applications with a focus on CI/CD and application monitoring.
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience with DevOps (CI/CD) pipeline concepts and tools such as GitHub, Gitlab, Docker, and Jenkins.
- Experience with one or more scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go).
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Familiarity with configuration management systems (Ansible) to automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment tasks across varied language stacks.
- Proficient in source code management using Git, including branching strategies, merging workflows, and code reviews for projects in Python, PHP, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Familiarity with various methods to audit site performance, monitor uptime and prevent intrusion preferred.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and experience troubleshooting web server connections and routing.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud hosting preferred.
- Experience with WordPress, Django, and identity providers, such as Azure Entra.
- Experience documenting systems, architecture and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well with others and independently as necessary.
- Ability to prioritize projects, evaluate requests and offer solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work with web development and marketing technology/platform teams to assist with assist with on-premise and cloud containerized deployments, automating the implementation, testing, and deployment of products into a runtime environment in a reliable and efficient manner.
- Work with central IT to ensure proper security, code review and University development best practice is followed.
- Break/fix incident response and support of division, campus community, and external vendor partners.
- Craft process, best practice and support documentation as required.
- Quality assurance (QA) test sites and systems in collaboration with web development team for functionality and accessibility.

The Clinical Program Consultant, provides an education and training program for a team of staff that supports care delivery organizations within OptumCare. This role is responsible for creation of quality education materials, inclusive of performance measures within NCQA HEDIS and CMS Medicare Stars; best practice documents that support quality improvement strategies for these measures; and training materials that support quality processes and systems integral to quality functions such as provider point of care quality tools and supplemental data management systems.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in quality measures, quality rating systems and the ability to interpret HEDIS and CMS Stars specifications and regulations to create educational and training material for internal and external customers. The candidate needs to be detailed oriented and able to take complex information and translate it into simpler context for educating others. This position will require experience in creating provider and member facing materials and experience in working in cross-functional teams and presenting to different types of audiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Our Sales Engineering organization is seeking an AI Specialist who can provide hands-on expertise and support while working with technical decision makers and data scientists to design and architect AI solutions built on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.
This is a strategic role that works closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and the broader field organization to ensure successful execution and customer adoption of Snowflake’s AI & ML solutions.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL GET TO:
- Be the technical expert in the room that positions Snowflake’s AI and ML features and value to technical stakeholders at Snowflake’s customers across the Americas.
- Partner with Snowflake account team teams and customer champions to scope and drive POCs to success and technical wins that prove the value of Snowflake’s capabilities, including executive readouts and business value cases.

- Familiarity and associated knowledge of generative AI techniques like RAG, few shot learning, prompt engineering, or fine-tuning that are used to operationalize enterprise AI use cases like interactive chat applications or text processing.
- Deep knowledge of Python and common ML packages (such as LangChain, pandas, sklearn, and PyTorch) as well as data engineering tools and technologies like dbt, Airflow, and Spark.
- Strong presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether whiteboarding sessions or formal readouts and demos.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred.
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
- Working knowledge of tools in the LLM ecosystem such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and NeMo-Guard.
- Experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, etc.)
- 1+ years of practical Snowflake experience.

Four years of recent experience in the engineering, installation, configuration, and maintenance of security devices for a large organization; such as next-generation firewalls, Virtual Private Networks, intrusion detection/prevention systems, multi-factor authentication, next-generation endpoint security, and Security Information Event Management systems.
Special:
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security, Cisco Certified CyberOps Professional or equivalent is required and must be kept valid during the term of employment
Any Global Information Assurance Certification GIAC certification is preferred
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation level certification is preferable
A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the state of California and the use of a motor vehicle.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate would have the knowledge of:
- Current firewall, VPN, content filtering, and intrusion detection methodologies
- TCP/IP protocols including IP addressing, subnetting and well known ports
- Knowledge of security tools such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP
- Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools including but not limited to Nessus, Nmap and Metasploit
- Risk and threat assessment processes and practices
- Malware such as worms, viruses and Trojans
- Proof of Concepts procedures and processes
- Project management techniques
The ideal candidate would also have the ability to:
- Install, configure and monitor network security devices, including firewalls, VPN, content filtering, and Intrusion Detection Systems
- Design and implement technical modifications to firewall, VPN, content filtering, and intrusion detection rule sets
- Learn characteristics of new security threats, vulnerabilities, and countermeasure techniques and technology
- Effectively communicate technical information to all levels of staff
- Maintain effective working relationships
- Identify and analyze trends related to threats
- Conduct WireShark captures
- Train and mentor staff effectively
- Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT Security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes, and the deployment of new attacks and threat vectors
